Relax!
The bible story tells us that the apostles were on a boat over the sea of Galilee. Suddenly, there was a big wind that started shaking the ship. Things went from bad to worse, and now the wind was threatening to turn and sink the boat.
Panic was created; everyone was running and trying to do something. They put down the sails; they threw whatever weight there was in the ship overboard, they tried to balance the waves! Nothing was working! In the midst of this confusion, anxiety, and panic, someone went to the ship's lower deck and found Jesus sleeping.
Then, the apostles became outraged, how can the master sleep during this life and death situation? And they complained to Him. And the rest of the story, you know. Jesus ended up ordering the wind to stop, and the storm concealed.
We are now in a storm. Yes, the pandemic SARScov2, race discrimination, lootings! We are trying everything we can to save our lives, social distance, hand sanitizers, gloves, masks, and so on. But the storm goes on. Where is Jesus? Is he sleeping again?
Not really! He is trying to tell us at this present moment, “Relax, just relax! Because I am in control. I will take care of you, and no matter what happens, I will be with you!” Meaning that you will be OK if you get the virus and you will be OK if you don’t. Do not worry about discrimination as He was discriminated too. This means that He is in control of what happens here, but more, He is in control of eternity.
Our lives are short; the ‘blue zoners’ will get 100 years old or so. Maybe many of us will not get there. We have other diseases that kill, perhaps more than the coronavirus. We also have social instability. So, death, suffering, and discrimination are around us all the time. However, He is in control and will not let any of their children to perish. They might perish temporarily, but not eternally.
Therefore, now is time to get closer to God, closer to Jesus, and get to know Him better. He is the only one who can stop the wind, calm the storm, contain the Covid 19, and provide comfort and protection against prejudice. He is the only one who can give us complete relaxation in this “panicdemia!”
Look for Him! Find Him!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
